So now the hype of the BBC Essex interview is dying down a bit, and I have calmed down, and the adrenalin has gone from “boiling point” to “stone cold”, I am going to publicly thank everyone that I know and can think of that has helped me so far, in the search for employment. A few of you have been at the forefront, others chipping in every now and then, but be under no illusion, you have all been equally helpful to me, it is not something that I will forget, and at some stage of my life I will repay you in some way, for I am truly thankful.
I would just like to reiterate how powerful social media is, I am still getting “good luck” messages from people from all over the world, that have read my blog, heard the interview on the radio http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p006tf79/Mid_morning_on_BBC_Essex_Dave_Monk_Show_16_03_2010/ (forward it about and hour and 6 minutes), I have even had a lady email me from Chicago saying “Can I use your blog as an example in the next workshop I am doing at he end of March on how to use Social Media to find your next job or project?” How cool is that? Of course I said “yes”, and asked that she keep in touch and let me know how the workshop went and how my blog was received. My point here is that social media enabled me to look for a job, and tell my story to not only my network of friends but to the world! That’s a statement in itself, right? It’s almost as good as using Google Search Engine!! Well nearly ha ha ha.
So here is the list of folk that have helped me (in no particular order), if you don’t already know them, I suggest you take time to click on the link respective links and see what they are about, you never know if they can help you, or you can help them, or you may know some one who know’s some one that can help them!! They are not all local folk, it’s not a UK network here…..it expands massively…think about it!!
I really hope I haven’t forgotten anyone, if I have then I am sorry!!!
wow thank you Paul for the mention, your journey is only just beginning and its very very exciting too!
[...] very influencial people too, all with getting me a job in mind. And I know that in my previous blog http://weston007.wordpress.com/2010/03/18/lets-just-take-a-minute-here-smgc-part-iia/ I thanked a few of those that had played a part in helping me. And this led me to thinking there [...]
Happy to be of help Paul, lets hope the new media stuff you are spearheading along with the charity appeal will bring both a job for you and money for them. We have some pretty amazing stuff planned in the next couple of months, and I think it will be very rewarding indeed.
I am proud and very excited to be part of it ( even though I am now running around like a headless chicken!)
Thanks for the mention Paul, let’s hope that your and everyone else’s efforts will soon be rewarded.
